Regional brewer releases quarterly figures with increased sales growth and heightened brand awareness
On August 2, Narragansett Beer released strong second quarter business results, demonstrating continued momentum in heightening brand awareness and growing sales throughout the company’s target markets. Additionally, ‘Gansett has bolstered its product offerings with two new launches and expanded their presence outside of New England and Florida, entering the Philadelphia market in June 2010.
Company-wide, Narragansett has reported 49% year-over-year growth since June 2010, with a year-to-date sales increase of 54%. With a strong focus on southern New England, ‘Gansett has experienced a second quarter sales increase of 18% in Rhode Island maintaining an impressive market share across the state. In Massachusetts, the fastest growing market by volume for the beer brand, sales increased by 69% with year-to-date growth of 75%, and in Connecticut, quarterly and annual sales continue to more than double.
Now available in more than 1,200 bars and restaurants, Narragansett has also experienced a steady increase in on-premise business. Year to date, the company has added over 85 new accounts in Rhode Island and more than 130 in Massachusetts. Also, having secured distribution in Philadelphia with Origlio Beverage in June, ‘Gansett is steadily increasing its footprint in new markets throughout the East Coast.
Further enhancing its product offerings, Narragansett introduced a limited-edition summer can design promoting the brand’s status as “the official beer of the clam.” Available through August 2010, the 16oz. Tall Boy can features ‘Gansett’s clam logo and signature New England Clambake recipe. Narragansett will also be introducing its autumn brew, Narragansett Fest, in September. The Fest represents a bolstering of its acclaimed seasonal craft rotation and the introduction of craft-style beers in the Company’s popular 16oz Tall Boys.
The company’s year-long 120th Anniversary Whistle Stop tour is still going strong, making visits to popular watering holes throughout New England to promote the brand’s heritage and “Build a Brewery” Campaign to rebuild a new full-scale brewing facility in New England. In May 2010, Narragansett proudly marked the shipment of its 1 millionth case of beer since the brand relaunch and based on current growth patterns, the company projects the groundbreaking for a draft-only brewery in Fall 2011.
