County commissioners appoint additional member to Cape Cod Economic Development Council

CAPE COD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL

At a regularly scheduled meeting, the Barnstable County Commissioners voted to appoint Alice Boyd to serve the remainder of a vacated term on the Cape Cod Economic Development Council (CCEDC).

Ms. Boyd is the President of Bailey Boyd Associates, Inc., founded in 1989. Bailey Boyd Associates has funded and implemented projects in excess of $120 million and has a strong record for grant writing and administration in Massachusetts.

She was the first Executive Director of the Lower Cape Cod Community Development Corporation, and founder of The Resource Inc., where she served as President and Executive Director. Alice was also one of the founders of The Children’s Place, a family resource center and childcare facility in Eastham, MA.

Most of Alice’s work focuses on affordable housing and economic development, always with an emphasis on sustainability. In 1998, Alice opened and operated the first regional small business incubator in Provincetown and has also worked in conjunction with the Cape Cod CDP to fund their Business Builders and Technology Programs.

Alice has served on the Dennis Finance Committee, served as Chairman of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School Committee, as Vice President of the Cape Cod Foundation and Secretary of the Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless. She completed the Massachusetts Certified Public Procurement program and has served on numerous other Boards and Councils. Alice and her husband reside in Harwich.

The CCEDC serves in an economic development advisory capacity to the County Commissioners, and also administers the Cape and Islands License Plate Grant Program. The CCEDC is currently engaged in the policy and advisory role for the sixteen Regional Priority Projects of the regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, and is engaged in local grant-making for economic development.
