OMNI Career Search CEO Michael White named to Board of Directors of Massachusetts Restaurant Association

Michael White, CEO of OMNI Career Search (www.omnicareersearch.com), has been re-elected to the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. In this role, he will help guide the direction and initiatives of the 2000 member trade organization, whose mission is to support, enhance and promote the food and beverage industry in Massachusetts.

White will serve a two-year term on the Massachusetts Restaurant Association (www.marestaurantassoc.org), ending in 2011. He previously served the Association as a Director for past two years; he also is a member of three committees for the Association: Associate Members, Trade Show Association, and Membership.

White brings significant industry-specific experience to his role with the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. In addition to his role as CEO of OMNI Career Search, he is the founder of OMNI’s Restaurant Division, which offers consulting, loss prevention, mystery shop, integrity shop, and recruitment. The recruitment provides top-level salaried restaurant personnel, including Single- and Multi-unit Managers, Directors of Operations, and CEOs to restaurants up and down the Atlantic seaboard. Industry research shows that more than 75% of salaried restaurant positions are filled by recruiters, and in the last ten years 61% of managers in the restaurant industry who switched jobs used a restaurant recruiter in the process.

White joined OMNI Career Search in 2002, as a partner in the organization. Prior to his work with OMNI, he had extensive experience in the restaurant industry. White started in the industry at the age of 13 as a dishwasher for locally acclaimed Chef Jimmy Burke at The Landmark Inn in Boston. He began his management career as a Banquet Chef at the Sheraton Plymouth. Over several years he worked as a Chef before moving to the front of the house at The Joshua James in Hull. He opened the Oyster Club in Boston before moving into the restaurant chain world where he worked for TGI Fridays in Boston, Danvers and Norwell. His last stop in operations was with The Ground Round as a Multi-Unit Managing General Partner. In addition to his 18 years in the restaurant operations, he also has 5 years experience in leasing and restaurant finance.

White is a resident of Marshfield, and native to Weymouth, MA. He studied Culinary Arts at Quincy Vocational Technical High School, then completed the Certificate Program at Johnson & Wales. He lives in Marshfield with his wife Carol Ann; they are parents to two sons, Corey, a student at Bridgewater State College, and Connor, a senior at Marshfield High School.
