Hyannis, MA - The Cape Cod Young Professionals (CCYP), in partnership with local businesses, will hold the “Food is Love” canned food drive during the month of February.
Spearheaded by the CCYP Community Action Team (CAT), the drive will benefit the Harwich Family Pantry and the Falmouth Service Center.
“During the months of February, March and April, the food pantries are very lean, but it’s also the time of greatest need.” Said Sara Whiteley, chair of the drive. “Working with these two organizations allows our members to serve as many fellow residents as possible.”
Collection boxes, donated by Nauset Disposal, will be located at businesses throughout Cape Cod with a full list of drop-off locations available on the CCYP website – www.capecodyoungprofessionals.org.
“Our hope is that we collect many protein items.” says Danielle McPhee, co-chair of the CAT. “Canned tuna, ham, beans are all important items for the centers to ensure that they are giving well rounded, healthy staple items.”
For those who would like to assist with a monetary donation, “virtual” shopping bags have been set-up through the CCYP where a $10 or $25 donation can be made. 100% of the funds collected will be split between the 2 centers.
