Rockland Trust supports good neighbor energy fund

Published on Thursday, January 28, 2010

Rockland Trust has donated $7,000.00 to the Salvation Army’s Good Neighbor Energy Fund, it was announced today. The donation was the result of a month long Warm for the Winter drive held in the bank’s 71 branches. During the month of December, Rockland Trust sold paper mittens for $1, $3 and $5 with all proceeds benefitting the Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund. The Good Neighbor Energy Fund is a cooperative effort between Massachusetts energy companies and the Salvation Army of Massachusetts that provides energy assistance to those in temporary crisis. The Fund is important because it assists those people who do not meet federal and/or state assistance guidelines, but who, because of unexpected circumstances, experience a temporary need for assistance. “Rockland Trust believes in strengthening the communities in which we work and live,” stated Bill Matteson, Senior Vice President of Retail Banking, Rockland Trust, “we are proud to partner with the Salvation Army of Massachusetts to help families in our communities who are struggling to pay their heating bills this winter.”
