Cape Cod SCORE to present awards at 16th Annual Breakfast

HYANNIS – Paul Provonost, Editor of the Cape Cod Times, will address an audience of prize-winning small business owners at Cape Cod SCORE’s 16th annual awards breakfast. His topic will be, “Changing Media in A Challenging Business Environment.” The breakfast will be held at 8 AM Tuesday, June 2 at Old Yarmouth Inn, Route 6A, Yarmouth.

Paul came to the Times in 2000 and has held several newsroom leadership positions at the newspaper. As editor, he restructured the newsroom to expand web delivery of local news and information, launched several community outreach programs, created the position of ombudsman, and developed media partnerships with the Cape and Islands' NPR station and New England Cable News. The mission of the Cape Cod Media Group is to deliver intelligence each day that is vital to the lives of the people of the Cape and Islands. In addition to the daily newspaper, the company includes: Cape Cod Online, a portal Internet site; Cape Cod View, a glossy lifestyle magazine; PrimeTime Cape Cod, a free-distribution magazine targeting the over-50 market; White Gull Delivery, a newspaper distribution service; and several advertising and marketing-related products. Paul is responsible for the content and presentation of information in all Cape Cod Media Group products. Prior to coming to the Cape, he worked at several community newspapers in the Greater Boston area and is past president of the Massachusetts Press Association and state Sunshine Chairman for the Society of Professional Journalists.

SCORE’s annual awards breakfast honors the organization’s Small Business Owner of the Year, who is selected from among clients of the non-profit counseling organization. In addition, Build a Better Mousetrap awards are presented to small business owners selected for recognition by their various local Chambers of Commerce.
