Joel G. Crowell, President of Cape Cod Cooperative Bank, is pleased to announce sponsorship support in cooperation with the United Way of Cape Cod and other local sponsors for a fundraising event throughout the Month of March that will benefit the Cape and Islands youngest citizens.
This event is a “Diaper Drive” for A Baby Center. “A Baby Center is a devoted organization of volunteers who saw a need and have worked hard to provide the basics for babies and children in our community,” said Mr. Crowell. “We are proud to support them in making a big difference in so many young lives.”
Cape Cod Cooperative Bank is accepting baby diaper donations for A Baby Center at all of their convenient branch locations and the operations center from employees, customers and the community. Diapers are needed in all sizes from infant to large and are especially appreciated in sizes 4, 5 & 6.
A Baby Center, located at 81 Willow Avenue in the Lorusso Room at the Federated Church in Hyannis was founded seven years ago by members of the Cape Cod Council of Churches. They were responding to the needs of young families who, despite having jobs, found it difficult to make ends meet. Infants and children up to 3 years old in families who meet the financial guidelines of the federal Women, Infants and Children program and who live on the Cape and Islands may receive services.
The center provides 15,000 diapers per month in addition to providing much needed formula, clothing, blankets, bottles and the occasional crib to very appreciative clients. A Baby Center also acts as a referral service for families, single parents, grandparents, and foster parents to other programs that are available such as fuel assistance, food pantries, and shelters. Presently serving more than 500 babies a month with a staff of 40 dedicated volunteers, A Baby Center has lent a hand to more than 5,000 Cape and Islands residents since opening their doors. A nonprofit program with a mission to provide at no charge, every 30 days, critical basic items for infants and toddlers they depend largely upon fundraisers, grants, and donations from individuals and businesses.
