Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce offers tips for easy Cape commuting this summer season
Sagamore Bridge construction is complete -- and just in time for Memorial Day Weekend. As the region gears up for summer, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce (CCCoC) is looking forward to welcoming visitors this holiday weekend and throughout the summer season. With construction complete and travel to the Cape easier, the CCCoC offers tips that will further enhance commuting this season.
The Bourne Bridge, which services 25 percent fewer cars than the Sagamore, is the bridge of choice for most locals. “Saturday mornings and afternoons can be very busy with visitors arriving and departing, so residents will head to the beach early to save time on the road,” offers Northcross.
Northcross also recommends the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Mass511 service, which provides real-time traffic updates and webcams. “These services are a fantastic way to monitor movement on the roadways.”
“Traveling during off-peak hours drastically improves travel times,” explains Wendy Northcross, chief executive officer of the CCCoC. “The best time to drive to the Cape is Sunday through Thursday, Fridays before 2 p.m. or after 9 p.m., and Saturdays before 8 a.m. or after 2 p.m.”
