Increased hours announced at state unemployment call centers

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 --- In response to an increase in volume of individuals filing unemployment claims on the State’s Unemployment Insurance Teleclaim Center phone lines, Massachusetts Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Suzanne M. Bump today announced that the statewide Teleclaim Centers will be extending their hours of operation effective immediately to 8:30am – 6:30pm. Additionally, the Teleclaim Centers will be open Saturdays from 8am-1:30pm effective this weekend and continuing through the end of the year.

“We recognize that individuals are facing long wait times on our phone lines, and we are working hard, through increased staffing and extended hours to decrease the wait times,” said Secretary Bump.

Individuals calling the TeleClaim Center from the 617 or 781 area code should call 617 626-6800. All other individuals should call 1-877-626-6800.
