ABWA February meeting

The Cape Cod Chapter of the American Business Women s Association (ABWA) will organize its monthly meeting on February 9 at the Hyannis Radisson. Networking will start at 6:15 p.m. with dinner and keynote speakers following.

Executive Director Bob Nash of the Cultural Center of Cape Cod will discuss the history of how the Center came to be thanks to tremendous community outreach efforts and support. He will also discuss its plans for expansion. Associate Director Lauren Wolk will discuss programs and business and community partnerships.

Leslie Fishlock of Geek Girl Camp and CEO of Genevate will be the member spotlight for the evening.

Dinner costs $20 for members and $25 for guests or for members without a reservation. Reservations cut-off date: February 3rd , 2010.

About the keynote speakers: Robert Nash, former owner and president of Nash Studio, Inc., has been creating award-winning photography for over twenty-five years. Early in his commercial career, Robert was a founding member and past president of the Grove Street Gallery artist s cooperative, whose facility was renovated under his direction. He has served on the Member s Council for the Worcester Art Museum, In October, 2006, after three years of service on the Cultural Center s Board of Trustees and as chairman of the building renovation committee, Robert was appointed to the position of Executive Director.

Lauren Wolk, a freelance editor and writer, a high school English and Creative Writing teacher at Sturgis Charter School, Assistant Director of the Cape Cod Writers Center, and now Associate Director at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. Her first novel, Those Who Favor Fire, was published by Random House in 1999. Her second, Forgiving Billy, won the Hackney Award and was twice nominated for the Pushcart Editor's Book Award.
