About

The Luke Vincent Powers Foundation was founded in 2003 by William and Suzanne Powers. Born from the Love for their son Luke, who died abruptly and tragically due to medical error, they have vowed to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children. Our mission is to provide opportunities for these children within our community by funding programs that enhance and protect their lives by creating Hope for their future.

The acronym for Luke is L.oving U.nderprivileged K.ids E.verywhere. True to this mission, we have dedicated the last six years to helping numerous children in need.

Our current project is for an all-inclusive playground in West Barnstable Village on Cape Cod. A certified Boundless Playground™, “Luke’s Love” will be equipped with universally accessible pathways and surfacing, swings and bouncers with back support and other unique features for children with and without disabilities. This exceptional community playground will allow children, living here on Cape Cod or visiting, their parents and caregivers the opportunity to engage in play regardless of physical limitations. Once the project is completely funded, “Luke’s Love” will be gifted to the Town of Barnstable.

We are well on our way and quite certain that through the power of our Community we will break ground in early Spring 2009!
