During these tough economic times, we all dig a little deeper to accomplish what we need to do to get by or get ahead. This is also true for the technology sector. Manufacturers are developing new and exciting product offerings that will set them apart from their competition and give them an advantage in the marketplace.

Business equipment manufacturers are using new technologies to create services and systems that extend beyond the traditional telephone system. Imagine a telephone system that evolves to include voice communications, email, text messaging, video conferencing,
door control and security, video monitoring, integrates with your computer, is seamless with your mobile phone and integrates all your locations into a single system. One manufacturer, ESI of Plano, TX, is delivering these applications today and continues to push the envelope.

As high-speed access becomes commonplace, the same dynamic that caused the mobile phone multimedia revolution will extend into the business communications systems to provide services we never imagined possible. At the center of it all will be the business multimedia controller. It will be an exciting ride but hold on! ■
